CHA Summer 2010 is coming up really soon — only 5 weeks to go — eek!! And we’re all having fun pouncing upon the sneak peeks as soon as they are released. It’s like water torture as we wait for the drips & dregs to slowly make their way out to us. Some companies provide pictures of entire lines all at once; others first release a logo or single paper glimpse, making us then wait for more.
Isn’t it fun looking at all the new stuff? Yet, as much as I love looking at all the new stuff, I must confess that I am almost never one to run out & purchase the newest ‘thang.’ In fact, I can’t recall a time that I have EVER scrapped a layout with a brand new, trendy, latest release. (Gosh, good thing I’m not trying to get any of my layouts published!)
In fact, I am officially a “late adopter,” as defined way-back-when in my college marketing class. I mean, seriously, I only used my first rub-on about a year ago! I don’t own an Ipod. I love my Cricut Expression, but don’t have Design Studio OR the Gypsy. My “late adopter” status is due equally to two things: #1: I am a nervous nellie. #2: I am uber-thrifty. Which brings me ’round to the initial question….
What is YOUR shopping style? What does CHA season mean to your purse?
Trend vs. Price:
Are you on top of all the latest & greatest? Are you ready to run out & purchase immediately your favorite of the new releases in August? Or do you wait until a new trend has gone on sale so you can scoop up some cool stuff at a discount? Is CHA a great opportunity to infuse your art with new inspiration? Or is it more of an opportunity to pick up that release from 6 months ago that you liked but couldn’t bring yourself to purchase full price?
