Papercrafting Tim Holtz Style (CHA Summer 2013)
Wow, what a whirlwind!
(If you know all about the CHA events and don’t care to know more,
please skip on down to the camera equipment photo)
If you’re not familiar with this event, it’s a 3-day conference and exhibition where the craft industry’s manufacturers reveal their newest lines, and buyers (the folks from your local independent papercrafting supply stores…and the big guys) show up to check out the new product lines in person, and place orders.
There are also workshops where store owners, their staff and industry designers make projects that can be taken back to their stores to use as displays and/or used as examples of how the products can be used to create beautiful and fun creations.
And, lastly, there are business sessions where subject-matter experts teach retailers, manufacturers, designers and other CHA members about the topic(s) they need to learn about in order to succeed in business.
Also in attendance are:
- Product Designers (talented folks like Tim Holtz, Dyan Reaveley, Claudine Hellmuth, Ronda Palazzari, Julie Balzer, Dina Wakley, Maggie Holmes, Liz Kartchner, etc. who make their living coming up with the products we all love);
- Project Designers (equally talented folks like Jennifer McGuire, Carol Heppner, Kathy Cano-Murillo, Cheryl Boglioli, Tammy Tutterow, etc., who create sample projects using the products produced by some of your favorite manufacturers);
- Industry Suppliers;
- Members of the Media;
- Trade Publishers;
- And, a few other categories of folks.
As a member of the media, I attend these trade events so that I can share what I see, hear and learn with the readers (business owners) of the magazine I write for. And, I get the chance to speak with many of our readers and learn about their business challenges so I can address them in my column, All About the Brand.
As the owner and editor of PaperCrafter’s Corner, I attended so I could meet with the papercrafting product manufacturers we promote and the independent papercraft supply retailers we support, and capture the event on “film” and video so it could be shared with you, our papercrafting peeps!
I came home with more than a thousand photos, and lots of short videos, and we’ve spent the last four days uploading, culling, editing, tagging and finalizing the photos down to the 470+ included in our 2013 CHA Summer Photo Gallery; and, uploading, editing, rendering and tagging the videos into the collection we’ll start sharing with you below.
I hope you enjoy the “show insider” peek we provided through the Photo Gallery and especially the Tim Holtz videos below…don’t cut out early or you’ll miss the giveaway!
Grab some popcorn and enjoy the shows!
