Papercrafting the Holidays: A Round-Up of Fun!
Papercrafting for the holidays – so many options!
OK, how many of you are excited about the holidays?
I am, I am!
I LOVE this time of year and even the associated holiday craziness!
I so enjoy the holiday preparations and the flurry of activities, making cards and gifts, sharing in holiday traditions, and most importantly, fun times with family and friends, most of which are captured “on film.”
I’m sure that my love of the December holidays is largely attributable to the many fun activities my family and I enjoyed at this time of year when I was growing up (see happy Steph photo above!), and to the fond memories of my Mom and I making things – ornaments, cookies, decorations, etc.
How about you, do you have fond memories of creating for the holiday season?
I bet you do!
Yes, I know this time of year can also be stressful (been there, lived it!), but we want PCC to be your happy place so we’re going to stay focused on the good stuff, the fun and creative stuff!
Now the trick to creating during the holidays is finding time, right?
Yup, we know how tough this can be and that’s the purpose of this post being published now, before things get too crazy and while it’s still possible to “plan” for creative time.
We pledge to make time for creating and to bring you lots of ideas and inspiration – all we need in return is your pledge to join in (when you can) and to have fun!
Sound like a deal?
We’re encouraging you to make time for your creative pursuits, to capture the holiday season on film and to give your holiday photos the special place of honor they deserve.
Are y’all with us?
Planning for Creative Fun & Getting Inspired!
We’re gonna start with enjoying the capturing and documenting of your holiday memories…
If you’re excited about capturing the fun events of the season and giving your captured holiday memories a special place of honor – and having fun papercrafting while you’re at it! – we think you’ll enjoy these fun options we’ve assembled for you, options from some of your favorite papercrafting personalities and companies…and some that may be new to you!
And in case you’re wondering, no, we are not an affiliate for any of these companies or individuals, nor are we being compensated for sharing these options – we simply love them and wanted to share them with you!
Of course, there may be an extra perk or two in it for you if you decide to choose one of our recommendations and let them know we sent ya – PCC community members often receive perks from the companies whose products and services we share and you’ll find one down below!
Whether you’re looking solely for inspiration, a peek at papercrafters’ processes, a holiday album and/or pre-packaged kit (with or without complete instructions), individual holiday papercrafting products or a class for holiday documenting, we think you’ll find something that resonates and inspires you in the round-up below.
Please Note: These products and classes are in no particular order and this is certainly not a complete list of offerings, just those we either have personal experience with and/or spotted and thought you’d want to know about, should you be looking for such an offering. Stay tuned for more!
Let’s get started, shall we?!
Any Simple Stories fans in the house?
Yeah, we knew we’d see hands raised high!
Layle Koncar is the marketing director for Simple Stories and she’s the one responsible for providing us with all of the fun Simple Stories products y’all have had a chance to win here at PCC during the last few years.
Well, imagine my delight when I came across a share from Layle on Instagram announcing her album for documenting December!
Of course I reached out to Layle to get more information about this offering and here it is…
Layle’s created a fab new kit for documenting December, complete with all the products necessary to create a finished album, and detailed, easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions, and full-color photos – even first-time papercrafters can be successful in creating an album for their December memories!
And, because Layle’s a cool gal, PCC members get five bucks off!
Just mention PaperCrafter’s Corner when placing your order with Layle and she’ll deduct $5 off your kit!
Yeah, we thought you might like that!
Want to learn more about the ‘Document Your December’ project kit?
Ready to order (before Layle’s kits run out again!) and save $5?
Send an email to Layle Koncar (click here: laylekoncar [at] yahoo [dot] com) with “Document Your December Project Kit” in the subject line, and your full name and mailing address in the body of the email, and she’ll send you a PayPal invoice so your kit can be processed. Don’t forget to mention you’re a member of PaperCrafter’s Corner so you get your $5 off deal!
OK, I’m sure you’ve heard me talk about Ali’s December Daily™ offering, right?
I’ve participated in Ali’s December Daily™ workshop a few times and have so enjoyed it!
Ali shares her process for capturing the special (and everyday) moments, and for creating a special home for those captured memories to live.
And her daily blog posts provide an inside look at how she and her family spend their holiday season – fun stuff!
Do you have to buy the kit to participate in December Daily™?
Nope. But we bet you’re gonna like it so much that you’ll be wanting to!
And this is especially true this year – Ali’s not only offering her wonderful main kit, she’s teamed up with industry designers and artists Ashley Goldberg, Emily Lay, Jasmine Jones, Kelly Purkey and Peppermint Granberg Jones of One Little Bird Designs to offer a variety of mini kits for your holiday papercrafting needs.
Looking for daily inspiration, and a nice album and cool, coordinated elements, or a complete kit?
This is a great option!
December Memories Kit – Gossamer Blue
We haven’t shared much from Gossamer Blue in the past, but when I saw their December Memories Kit announcement on Instagram, I had to check it out and share what I could find.
(See, you really should follow us on Instagram –
there’s so much cool stuff being shared there!)
Gossamer Blue is a kit company, one of many listed in the PaperCrafter’s Corner FREE online Kit Directory (check it out if you’re looking for a kit club to join!), and they’ve assembled a fun kit for the holidays – the December Memories Kit, for those of you who want to grab a set of coordinated products for holiday memory-keeping.
Needing a bit of inspiration and instruction to go along with the kit?
They’ve got that too!
Check out the Gossamer Blue December Memories 2015 Class!
Again, as with several of the other options, you can get as much, or as little, product, instruction and/or inspiration as YOU need or desire – we love choices, don’t you?
Is Project Life™ more your thing?
There are great new options for you too!
- The Oh What Fun Winter value kit provides a “cool, soft color palette reminiscent of falling snow…with vellum, silver foil and loads of snowflakes;”
- The Oh What Fun Christmas value kit is filled with “traditional Christmas colors, gold glitter and wood veneer embellishments.”
There are albums for these collections as well…
…and it’s all available soon!
And last, but certainly not least…
Looking for a “class” on journaling about your Christmas?
Shimelle might have just what you’re looking for!
Having participated in this class for the last few years, I can attest to the quality of the event and Shimelle’s dedication to making sure each year’s “lessons” are robust, fun, inspiring and new!
Now, Shimelle hasn’t yet announced this year’s class sign-ups, but I’m sure that will be happening soon.
And we’ll be sure to let you know about it when the announcement’s been made!
And heck, if for some reason Shimelle decided to not offer it this year, you could take a previous year’s course!
Trust me, each year’s daily prompts are worth the price of admission no matter when you take the classes!
And one of the best things about this class is that once you sign up, you’re in for good…every year!
How can you beat that?
If you want daily journaling prompts and inspiration, this is a great choice!
Well, what do you think – feeling inspired?
We sure hope so!
And we’ll be adding to this list as we discover more opportunities for papercrafting the season.
