Papercrafting Ideas: 10 Tips for Summer Scrapbooking
Papercrafting Summer – Yippee!
It’s Summer and the kids are done with school and ready to swim, play, travel and fill their days with tons of fun.
How, in the middle of all of that, can you get any scrapbooking done?
Today I’m sharing
10 Tips for Scrapbooking Your Summer!
1. Take photos on your smart phone.
I love my big camera, and there are definitely times when I pull it out during the Summer.
But, most of the time I use my cell phone to capture photos of our fun.
It’s light, it’s easy to use and it’s always with me.
Simplify your life and use your phone
to document your Summer!
2. Allow your children to take photos too.
My children are always more willing to be in photos when I let them take a few too.
And, I love getting to see the world from their perspective.
In fact, some of my favorite photos are the ones my boys take of themselves making faces.
You just might get a few photos of you as well!
And yes, that is a bonus. 🙂
You are beautiful and deserve to be in your scrapbooks too!
3. Let your children craft along with you.
My boys want to spend the day with me.
So, when I scrapbook they want to be in there too.
Whether they are scrapping, or just crafting, I let them share my space and my time.
Letting my boys craft is also the perfect way to use up old product and scraps.
I just keep a pile of product I no longer want and let my boys have free reign.
Encouraging kids to create at a young age
is likely to inspire a lifelong love for crafting and creativity.
4. Try “Smash Books” or mini albums to document your Summer fun.
I’m always a fan of trying new things.
So perhaps this Summer you can mix it up by trying your hand at a “Smash Book” or mini album.
My town even has a Summer class for kids called “Smashbooking.”
Part journal, part scrapbook, lots of fun!
5. Get your kids their own Project Life kits to scrap their Summer.
Project Life is everywhere.
With the new mini albums and mini kits, even your children can get in on the action.
Grab a mini kit for each child, print out some photos, and help them fill the album with their Summer activities.
Besides, encouraging them to write about their Summer
is a great way to keep those school skills sharp!
6. Designate a daily quiet time.
My boys are 7 and 9 and we STILL have rest time each day.
I call it rest and read.
It’s a chance for us to get a break from one another, and for my boys to get some daily reading in.
That hour of quiet is the perfect time for me to get some papercrafting done.
Big or small, quiet time does everyone good!
And, I get dedicated time for papercrafting!
7. Scrap outside
If your kids are like mine, they love to play outside.
Since I like being out there with them to keep an eye on things, sometimes I take a blanket and some crafty supplies outside with us.
I literally create while relaxing in the shade.
The kids are having fun, and I get some me-time.
It’s a win win!
8. Take your scrapbooking on the go
Are you traveling this Summer?
Take some scrapbooking along with you!
I typically use this time to create small things like mini albums or cards.
You could even try your hand at some digital scrapbooking!
For me, a new level of creativity is sparked
when I scrapbook in different surroundings.
9. Play… A LOT!
You’ve got to make memories to scrap your memories!
And Summer is a time for playing and having fun.
Every year my boys and I create a Summer bucket list with 25 things we want to do.
Some are big and some are small, but all are fun!
Whether you have kids or not,
don’t forget to leave time for play this Summer!
10. Don’t stress!
Let me say that again…DON’T STRESS!
If you get lots of papercrafting done, GREAT!
If you don’t, THAT’S FINE TOO!
Make sure that whatever you do,
it’s because you enjoy it, o.k.?
