I am at CHA this week, but yesterday & today here at PCC, we are talking about Mixed Media!!
Creating Keepsakes has a new “Mixed Media Scrapbooking” special issue coming out today. PCC Creative Squad member Angie Gutshall has created two Mixed Media projects to share and put us “in the mood” for the new issue.
Yesterday we shared her fab mixed media hearts on canvas project; Today we’re sharing her Pinwheels on Canvas project.
How did the fabulous piece come to life? Here is Angie with some instructions to share …
First, I adhered some torn-out book pages to the blank canvas. Then I ‘painted’ over the pages with Gesso to make the background base. To add some depth & additional dimension, I then used a Studio Calico stencil and some Jenni Bowlin acrylic paint to add circles to the background.
I made the pinwheels and the ‘sticks’ (which of course are just paper strips) out of Echo Park “Sweet Day” papers and adhered them with mod podge and let dry. I used the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook stamps and just stamped around the canvas. I also used a Jenni Bowlin rub-on that I cut up. And lastly I took an American Crafts Slick Writer marker and outlined each element.
Thank you, Angie, for that great project and tutorial to put us “in the mood” to talk about Mixed Media Scrapbooking!
Today, Creating Keepsakes is releasing a new special publication called Mixed Media Scrapbooking. Here’s a look at the new issue:
To enter to win your free copy of this issue, simply leave a comment here telling us how you feel about “mixed media.” How “far” have you chosen to incorporate mixed media into your scrapbooking and other paper crafting? Are you reluctant to try, or have jumped-in with both feet? Are you “inky” or are you clean & simple? Or somewhere in between? I wanna know 🙂
Giveaway is open now through Sunday night, July 22, at midnight eastern.
This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to randomly chosen winner Sheri Hale!
