GET ORGANIZED! A Series for Papercrafters, Crafters & Artists
Are you enjoying your summer so far?
I sure am!
I’m especially happy that we’ve had a chance to get outside and enjoy the amazingly cool (for Texas) temperatures.
How’s the weather in your neck of the woods?
Well, it might not be January, a month well-known for major organizational overhauls in many resolution-making homes, but it IS a great time to get our papercraft, crafting and art supplies in order. It’s a perfect time for getting organized!
Well, organizing is all about being in control of your space, productivity, time and money – and getting organized now means you can have more of all of those…just in time for summer!
Today marks the beginning of a 6-week series focused on gaining control over your creative space, wherever it might be and no matter its size. But, it’s not just about getting your creative space organized, but applying the fundamentals to all areas of your home, office, and even life!
And we’re thrilled to announce that we have a wonderful new sponsor for this series – a series all about getting our craft rooms, creative spaces, craft business offices and art studios (and, even our portable crafting kits!) in order – order that can leave us with more enjoyable and functional spaces, increased productivity, less wasteful spending, and more time and mojo for creating!
What could be more perfect than a sponsor known for quality organizing products, products such as the Jetmax® craft storage solution?
And, Go-Organize.com not only offers products to get your creative space organized, but organizing products for the rest of your home too!
After all, once you get one space organized, it’s highly likely you’ll be so motivated by the results that you’ll want to take on the next room and the next and the next and…
Well, you get it.
And, Go-Organize.com offers
FREE REGULAR SHIPPING
on all items!
Can you believe it?
We are thrilled to have Go-Organize.com join our papercrafting community and look forward to sharing their organizing solutions with you as we work on getting our spaces more organized.
Oh, I almost forgot…
Go-Organize.com is giving away a $100 Gift Card to their store!
Now do I have your attention?!
Stay tuned for details on how YOU could WIN that $100 gift card.
As a former professional organizer (who continues to speak about the topic at conferences), I have worked with clients in organizing (and reclaiming) their craft rooms, art studios, home offices, kids’ rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, garages, closets and storage units.
What do all these spaces have in common?
All can become easily cluttered, resulting in a space you dread going into. And, all can become wonderful, happy places to be with just a little organizing know-how and effort, know-how I will share combined with a little effort from you.
What makes this series special and worth your participation?
Well, if your creative space is perfect just as it is, perhaps there’s no reason for you to participate. (Although I believe you’ll still pick up some helpful tips.)
But, I’m willing to bet there are at least a few of you who feel you need a little help in this area. And, perhaps a few of you who shudder at the thought of even opening the door to your creative space.
Am I right?
The goal with this organizing series is to provide you with organizing principles that you can apply not just to your creative space, but to every space in your home, if you so desire.
Best of all, you’re getting the benefit of my years of professional organizing experience and it won’t cost you a dime!
You’ll not only get to learn the fundamentals of organizing, the “secrets” we organizers know and put to use to create relaxing, productive and happy spaces, but you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions about your specific organizing challenges and get answers from a pro! Again, free of charge!
How’s that sound?
Hopefully, that sounds great and you’re excited to have your very own professional organizer at your disposal.
Now, I can’t commit to coming to everyone’s homes, but I CAN offer you all the knowledge and experience I have gained over the years and I will do my best to provide suggestions for your specific organizing challenges.
Each week I’ll post a new organizing lesson, followed by a request for questions about your specific organizing challenges. You’ll post your questions (and comments) in the comment section of that week’s post and I’ll provide answers to your questions in the Q&A section of the next week’s post.
And, if the demand is there, I may even offer a live webinar or two!
Since there’s no time like the present for getting started, we’re going to start today.
O.K. with you?
Disorganization: Lesson #1 – It Ain’t About the Stuff!
How can it not be about the stuff when we’re talking about getting organized?!
It’s about the space, the productivity, the money and the time, or a combination of one or more of these – and it’s about a lack or misuse of one or more of these due to a lack of organization.
Sometimes a total lack of any kind of organization.
Sometimes a lack of an organizational solution that’s right for YOU. Right now.
It’s important to note that being organized is NOT about being perfect – it’s about finding and employing solutions that enable you to enjoy your space; it’s about being productive when you have time to create; it’s about using your money and time efficiently; and, most importantly, it’s about finding what works for YOU!
Assignment #1 – You:
Yup, we’re getting right down to business! But, I promise this assignment is not hard, and it’s vital to finding a solution that works for YOU!
Your first assignment is to jot down all the areas where you think you need guidance – what are your biggest challenges around getting, and staying, organized?
Once you have your list compiled (and there are NO right or wrong answers here!), share them in the comments section of this post (link above).
Assignment #2 – Me:
I will compile a master list of everything everyone shares and we’ll start tackling the challenges in our next Get Organized! post.
