Ali Edwards announced on her blog here Tuesday that her December column in Creating Keepsakes would be her last. She says that she & CK mutually agreed it was time for the column to end. She does have plans to continue her blog, to continue her focus on her digital designs, and to do more online education.
Wow, things sure have changed quickly in the world of scrapbook publications, haven't they? We lost Cathy Zielske when we lost Simple Scrapbooks. We lost Becky Higgins from CK in September (our post here), and as of yesterday, Ali Edwards is moving on.
I've often thought that the scrapbook magazines needed some new blood and some new article ideas. While I love getting my scrapbook mag in the mail, I must admit thatI'm a little tired of "creative" suggestions on how to use leftover letter stickers, articles focusing on how we should scrapbook giant pictures of ourselves, and overuse of the word "stash."
I know we'll miss Ali and Becky and that we already miss Cathy. But maybe this massive changing of the guard is what we need to breathe some new life, excitement, fun and practicality back into our favorite hobby!
If CK were to ask you, what suggestions would you have for updating their content, writers and designers?
