Well, washi tape, of course!
Here’s our challenge inspiration…
Today we’re focusing on using our washi stash to decorate envelopes.
Why not dress up your envelopes and send someone Happy Mail, guaranteed to make them smile?!
Here are a two super simple and quick ways to use your thin washi to decorate a standard (#10) envelope…
Create a rainbow of colors across your envelope, lining tape strips up side by side, from left to right, according to ROYGBP with no space in between the strips, and then back again:
Or, try the same color scheme, but with space between the colors and only one set of ROYGBP stripes:
I decided I like the second option better.
Which do you prefer?
Once I decided on the second option, I lined up my ruler and used a craft knife to carefully cut across the tapes (see above), about an inch from the bottom edge.
I then repeated this process at the top edge of the envelope, and then pealed up the tape between the cuts.
What you’re left with is an open space in the center, a perfect place for adding a recipient name and address.
Who wouldn’t love to receive a little colorful Happy Mail?
I know I love it when I do!
And here’s a second option for adding washi and cutting some away:
In this example, I simply created a grid of tapes, in the following order and orientations:
- red stripes horizontally
- orange stripes vertically
- yellow stripes horizontally
- green stripes vertically
- blue stripes horizontally
- and finally, the purple stripes vertically
And what’s it look like when you trim away the ends of the tape to create a box?
Well, that’s it for today’s Washi Wonders!
But we’re willing to bet you’ve got more ideas for storing – and using! – this beloved supply, right?
Share ’em, won’t you?
You’ll definitely want to join in this week
