Last weekend, I had an opportunity to attend a fabulous local scrapbook store anniversary party AND meet the fabulous Debby Schuh!
While busily working on my layout, I looked up to see my friend & tablemate Lynne asking a question of Debby Schuh, our guest instructor for the weekend. Lynne had no idea she was talking to a scrapbooking celebrity so I clued her in while Debby generously found the answer to Lynne's question. Upon returning with the answer to Lynne's question, she hung-out & visited with the three of us at our table until it was time for her to set up for her next class! (Debby taught 3 different classes in 4 sessions over the weekend.)
So already, I was liking Debby because she'd been so easy to talk to & approachable! And then the class I took with her later? It was her ‘Tiny Tales’ mini-book class which was a canvas album full of pockets, pull-outs, tags and interesting page treatments designed to tell “tiny tales†of our own childhood. Unlike most classes I have taken, we had plenty of time to complete each page and Debby was always extremely patient and helpful with any questions. All the instructions were on an overhead projector. As she changed the slide for each page, she would talk us through each page (or set of page and mini-pages) and then she walked around assisting as we worked on each section.
At the end of the 3 hour class, we had beautiful (and complete!) minis with plenty of left-over October Afternoon papers and embellies. Debby graciously posed for pictures (she also asked for a few specific ones herself) and generally made herself available for questions. And after the class, Debby even emailed the instructions to everyone who had requested them. Yep, by the end of the class that day, I was wishing I had been able to sign up for one of the two other classes she taught that weekend!
I am definitely looking forward to another class with Debby Schuh the next time I'm lucky enough to have her in my area!
