Please allow me to take a few moments to introduce you to a wonderful young lady whose name you might recognize from recent blog posts here at PaperCrafter’s Corner.
Although her name has appeared under numerous PaperCrafter’s Corner articles, she was never “formally” introduced.
Well, it’s time to change that!
After all, if she’s going to be sharing news and inspiration with you, our papercrafting addicts extraordinaire, then you need to know who she is and what makes her tick, right?
And, you most certainly want to know what she’s into – what ‘floats her creativity boat,’ correct?
This funny and talented lady, known to her followers as the blogger behind scrapinspired.com, is…
Who is Monica?
- from the Kansas City, MO area,
- married to Steve,
- a mom to two young and active boys, Parker and Keaton,
- a blogger, and
- a virtual assistant.
But, she’s also so much more than those titles and her physical location.
Let’s take a few moments to get to know Monica (MB), the newest contributor to PaperCrafter’s Corner (PCC)…
PCC: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
MB: Well, I’m a former teacher of kindergardeners (2 years) and first graders (10 years). I left teaching to stay home with my boys. I have a blog called scrapinspired.com, where I share all things creative, and I’m a virtual assistant.
PCC: What do you like to do in your spare time (do you have spare time?)?
PCC: What’s your creative pleasure?
MB: I love scrapbooking and am into digital and hybrid scrapping. I enjoy making mini albums for big events (like holidays, birthdays, vacations, etc.), but focus most of my energy on the everyday life stuff (this came about after scrapping chronologically got old).
PCC: What’s your favorite papercrafting supply?
MB: Washi Tape!!! I can’t get enough of it! (PCC: she actually squealed when she shared this! lol)
(PCC: I guess we all know what to get Monica for her birthday, right?)
PCC: Do you have a favorite product manufacturer, line or designer?
MB: I love EVERYTHING by Amy Tangerine! I pretty much buy the whole line of whatever she puts out! I love the bright colors.
(PCC: Did you hear that Amy? Now that’s a fan!)
PCC: What do you carry in your camera bag?
PCC: What’s a favorite memory?
MB: Our trip to Disneyworld last Fall. It was our very first family trip and it was wonderful!
PCC: What’s your favorite season?
MB: I love Fall – the crisp air, the leaves turning colors.
(PCC: At which point I had to share that we have like 2 trees in all of Austin that have leaves that change color – sad, right?)
PCC: What would people be surprised to learn about you?
MB: I’m MESSY! (yes, in all caps) I’m organized in my work and with life stuff, but I’m not that way at home.
(PCC: O.K., those of you who know Monica, does her claim to messiness surprise you?)
PCC: What’s your pet peeve?
MB: Improperly using words. (PCC: Which she later followed up on and asked me to replace with: being late!) I hate being late! As a kid our family was always late and I hated being the family teased and known for that. I swore that as an adult I would not be part of a family known for being late.
PCC: What’s your guilty pleasure? (I stole this question from the lovely Melissa Lombard)
MB: Peanut M&Ms.
(PCC: Yes, these are also Monica’s scrapping snack of choice.)
PCC: Is there anything else you think people would want to know about you?
MB: I created a couple of videos that some people think are pretty funny. They’re on YouTube and are my versions of the Call Me Maybe video that went viral. Becky Higgins saw the first one and asked me to create the Project Life version.
