Recap: In Part 1, we talked about some of my personal scrapping challenges. In Part 2, I shared an Allison Davis sketch provided by Scrapbook Generation and two possible ways to use the sketch — along with photos and a polling button for you to vote.
As a refresher, here is the sketch we are using for this layout:
Original Sketch for Our Layout
In the Part II poll, 41 of you voted and 9 of you left suggestions. More than 70% of the votes were for the patterned paper to go behind the pictures instead of the solid light blue cardstock. I thought that was interesting because if I'd been doing this layout on my own, I would have headed in the opposite direction, and done something like the below picture…..
What I Would Have Done On My Own
But that's why it's fun that we're doing this together! You are pushing me out of my comfort zone! I loved reading through all of your comments & suggestions. Overwhelmingly, you seemed to want me to use the boldly patterned paper in the middle and to mat the photos in white. I started that (see below), but wasn't wild about it….
Your #1 Suggestion
Granted, I didn't *really* mat the photos on the right properly, but I didn't think it was working for me. Then I tried about Kendra's suggestion of using the lime green instead of the navy cardstock background. Bold & cute … but too bright for me. (And it kind of made my son look a little green too 🙂
But then I had an idea! What if I combined those suggestions into on? Using the patterned paper, the white cardstock mats AND worked in the green cardstock in some way?
Combining Several of Your Suggestions Along with My Original
What do you think? I kind of like it, but now I'm confused as to how I should do the title to make it stand out against the patterned background. Suggestions?
Submit your next & final suggestions
Please submit in the comments section below your suggestions for our final layout. What additional embellishements are needed? What color changes you would make? (none of this is glued yet) How would you do the title? And any other thoughts you might want to share!
Part IV and a Giveaway Coming Soon….
Oh! And by the way, you should open up the original sketch in a separate window and print it! Why??Because Part IV of this series will introduce a giveaway of these sketchbooks. To enter, you will have to email us a picture or send us a link to a layout you've done using this very same sketch! Eek! If you're anywhere near as slow of a scrapper as I am, you might want to get started!
I am looking forward to seeing your last suggestions, sharing the final layout in Part IV, and then kicking off the giveaway! Stay tuned!
