Do you know who Nancy O’Dell is? If you’re like me, the name sounds familiar but you’re not 100% certain you can place her? Let me help you out: She was a long-time co-host of Access Hollywood, Hosted a Golden Globes Arrival Special, and has hosted the Tournament of Roses parade for many years. Oh … and by the way?….. She’s a scrapbooker!! (I LOVE hearing about famous people who scrapbook 🙂
Nancy O’Dell and Creative Memories have partnered on Nancy’s new book entitled “Full of Love.” The book debuted in October 2010 and is currently only available through Creative Memories. (Nope — not on Amazon! I checked!)
Creative Memories generously sent me two copies of the book: One to read & one to giveaway! I have already read the book and I have to say …. It’s NOT what I expected….. and I thoroughly enjoyed it:)
The book really could have been written by any “girl next door” … and yet it totally inspired me to get back to my scrapping! Nancy talks from her own perspective about why scrapbooking is important to her, how it makes her feel, what benefits it has added to her life, etc. ALL things that I could relate to! And ALL things that made me want to dust-off my paper trimmer and get going on my scrapping again!
Sometimes I think that the scrapbook industry does itself a disservice by constantly looking toward the “latest & greatest” trends. That’s great for enticing the die-hard paper crafters to go buy something new … but it doesn’t exactly bring new scrappers into the fold.
It’s good to be reminded of WHY we scrapbook …. And to be reminded of the feelings that scrapbooking will inspire within us. Isn’t that how Creative Memories inspired so many of us to become scrappers in the first place?
Sure, embellishments and techniques are fun. Artsy-fartsy pages and altered art home decor projects are great for challenging yourself to “step it up” occasionally. But ….. don’t forget to appreciate your scrapbooks for what they are and for what they will mean to you even just 5 years down the road 🙂
