Papercrafting: Giving Back
Papercrafting makes us happy…and it’s made many, many others happy as well!
How many of you are familiar with Operation Write Home (OWH)?
If not, we encourage you to check them out: About Operation Write Home
And now, before we go any further, I’d like to take a moment to recognize and thank Sandy Allnock, the Executive Director of Operation Write Home, for all she’s done in setting up and managing this wonderful organization that’s made the lives of our military personnel, and their families, a bit brighter while the troops have been deployed.
As a “military brat” I have personal experience with missing my Dad, a retired Marine, when he was deployed.
Receiving a letter letting us know he was alive and well was something my Mom and I really looked forward to, and I know it means a lot to the children, family and friends of the U.S. troops currently and recently deployed.
Yes, we know Sandy’s had a huge amount of support from so many wonderful folks, but OWH was her vision and she made it a reality.
We salute you, Sandy!
If you are familiar with the OWH mission, have you created cards and sent them in for distribution?
If so, kudos to you!
And if not, here’s a chance to do so, your LAST chance to do so.
You see, OWH is winding down its operations.
They’ve initiated the Operation Write Home #finishstrong campaign to encourage cardmakers to create and submit cards for our troops before the final submission deadline of August 1, 2015.
From OWH: “Operation Write Home, a charity that has supported heroes with handmade cards since 2007, will be closing later this year. All cards need to be sent in by August 1st.”
Yup, you have just over two months left to create and submit your cards, and to make a difference for the soldiers who use these cards to stay in touch with their friends and family members.
And, to help us help OWH to get the word out!
To inspire you to create cards for OWH, we created two of our own, two that easily qualify for our Papercrafting in Twenty series.
Stay tuned for a Papercrafting in Twenty post on how these were created…in less than 20 minutes!
Thanks for helping us get the word out about the OWH #finishstrong campaign and blog hop –
