Papercrafting Digi Style! Digital Resources for ALL Papercrafters & Happy Digital Scrapbooking Day!
Good Morning Everyone!
This will be a quick post as I’m prepping to pack for an all-day crop.
Yes, I finally have a free day to get some scrapping done!
I have a deadline of Thanksgiving for two gift albums and only two free days between now and then to get them completed, beginning to end!
Perhaps digital would be faster?
It sure would save me time since I have to create two identical albums. Hmmm…
Speaking of digital scrapbooking…
Happy Digital Scrapbooking Day!
We hope you have a great celebration today!
Please share your plans (papercrafting or digi-scrapping) for the day with us so we can see what you’re up to today.
What, no papercrafting or digi-scrapping plans?
Well, then we have some links you might be interested in!
And yes, even we non-digi scrappers and papercrafters will find many of these worthwhile...sales, freebies, apps, etc.!
Let’s start with the Digiscrap Parade…
The folks at Digiscrap Parade have compiled a list of some of the best deals to be found this weekend!
If you’re a digi scrapper, that’s a link you want to bookmark, for sure!
There are 52 designers participating!
And, if you’re a “traditional scrapper” who has contemplated digi-scrapping for even a nano-second, the collection above would certainly get you off to a good start as a newbie!
Next up: Designer Digitals is having a sale!
Designer Digitals is offering 15% off all digital scrapbooking supplies (licensing and gift certificates excluded) through midnight tonight.
If you’re planning to follow Ali’s 2013 December Daily blog series (I am!) and you love the fun digital elements she creates for the December Daily series, then now’s the time to get your hands on them!
Not yet a digi chick or prefer “traditional” scrapbooking?
No worries, Ali’s digital items can be printed and used in the traditional way as well.
Whether you’ll be creating a December Daily-type album digitally or through traditional papercrafting means, Ali’s creations are a great touch!
And, let’s not forget about Peppermint Creative!
Yup, they’re having a sale too!
From now through Tuesday, November 5th (at midnight), Peppermint Creative is treating us to 30% off commercial vector files and 40% off everything else (excludes gift cards and CD burning services)!
Wow, now that’s a sale!
And, a great time to stock up on some creative digi supplies!
And finally, be sure to check out the goings-on at The Lilypad.
They’re joining in the celebration too, with a celebration that includes a 30% off sale and…well, too much to list!
Be sure to check out the image above for a list of everything they’re doing to celebrate iDSD (International Digital Scrapbooking Day) or just click on over to the home of The Lilypad and peruse their special releases and join in on the fun!
And now, there’s an app for that!
I recently came across two fun apps that both digital and traditional scrappers (and even non-scrapping papercrafters) might find to be great additions to their mobile device app collection.
According to Reshma Chamberlin, one of the co-founders of Muzio, “Muzio is a simple digital scrapbook app you can use to weave your favorite photos, videos, notes and voices into little stories to save, share and enjoy.”
“It’s simple to use, you can curate multimedia you already have and/or are creating, and you can share your stories, or ‘Muzes,’ via a web link that can be viewed by anyone to whom you give access.”
After checking out the app myself, I think of the ‘muzes’ as film-strips of our experiences. Thoughts?
Check out Muzio and let us know what you think of it – would you use it for “scrapbooking” on your mobile device?
Think it looks like something you want to try?
You can find it in the iTunes store: MUZIO app.
She, like most of us, just didn’t have the time to get her photos printed and pages created.
She pondered her challenge and thought there must be a solution, some way for us to quickly and easily capture our memories (which she referred to as “connecting the dots of our lives” – love that!), and then share them with our loved ones.
When she didn’t find a suitable solution, she created one!
Thus, the Dot Glu app was born.
How is DotGlu described?
“Unite your photos, text and audio/video clips with one of our template designs. DotGlu automatically lays out the page in seconds, embeds the clips and preps it for sharing.”
1. Time saving; a finished page in seconds. Leave as-is or print and embellish.
2. Mobile: capture anytime, anywhere.
3. Comprehensive capture and share: (collect photos, quotes, ages, audio, video, date, place and details, and share via Facebook, Twitter, Dropbox, Tumblr, Email, Text or print)
What I found most intriguing about this app vs. some others on the market is that their pre-made templates not only adjust to what you add to them (ex: if the template has three photo slots, it will “adjust itself” if you add fewer photos), but they will populate themselves with labeled photos of your “circle” of family of friends (and everyone’s ages if you’ve provided them).
Now, when you’re not in the picture because you’re behind the lens, you can still be featured in the layout!
It all sounds pretty “smart” to me!
Check out GluDot and let us know what you think of it – would you use it for “scrapbooking” on your mobile device?
Think the DotGlu app is for you?
You’ll find it in the iTunes store: DotGlu app
Well kids, I’ve gotta run!
I hope you all have a great Saturday and I look forward to hearing all about your weekend papercrafting adventures in the comments.
And don’t forget, we’d love to know what you think of the two apps we shared above.
