Editor’s Note: I am so excited to introduce a new writer for us here at PaperCrafter’s Corner! Rebecca Boyer is going to be heading-up our new “Inspired By….” regular column. I love Rebecca’s writing style, her sense of humor, her eye for design & style, and her paper crafting work. I can’t wait to see what inspires her each month, and what she has to about it and/or create from it! If you enjoy Rebecca’s column, be sure to check her out at her blog, Enjoy Life, as well 🙂

We all know that both fashion and home decor change each season. You’ve probably noticed that scrapbooking supplies follow these same patterns. Trends this year, according to Elle Decor, have included butterflies, black and white, silver, turquoise, ikat, and animal prints.  Umm, hello? Have we seen this in scrapbooking? Absolutely! About three quarters of the sneak peaks on PaperCrafters Corner from CHA in July included turquoise, the Martha Stewart butterfly punch was sold out at every local craft store I visited and there were several lines introduced that included printed butterflies and/or butterfly embellishments!
That being said, I’m incredibly inspired by home decor decor when it comes to scrapbooking. Color combinations, patterns. textures and even shapes are a great stepping stone for a layout!
And here is a layout inspired by the photo. Â Those same pops of color, expansive white space and a small piece of black to tie everything together makes it work.
What home decor trends are inspiring you right now? Â Do you use that inspiration to create scrapbook layouts and/or cards?
Thanks, Rebecca! I enjoyed your introductory article!! Let’s all give Rebecca a silly, fun, sweet, papercrafty welcome and/or talk about what inspires us! My guess is that some of your responses may become inspiration for future “Inspired By….” articles 🙂
