I heard a SWAG once that in our hay-day (did I spell that right?) there were 2,500 scrapbook stores in the US. That same SWAG estimated that we now have 2,000 scrapbook stores.
2,000 scrapbook stores divided by 50 states is 40 stores per state. Not even close! Sure, California & Texas both have more than 40 scrapbook stores …. but then think about other states like Georgia (11) and Iowa (6) and New York (5) and you see what I mean 🙁
Our maps here at PaperCrafter’s Corner show roughly 550 brick & mortar scrapbook stores so far (yes, some of those are small chains .) How many are we missing? I can’t imagine that we’re possibly missing another 1450 stores from our maps / lists. I wish we were! But realistically speaking, perhaps we’re missing 25? 50? 100?
If you have a favorite scrapbook store near you, please be sure to check our maps and make sure your store is listed. If it isn’t, email us & let us know about it! We want to share as much information about independent paper crafting retailers as we can … and help those stores to let paper crafters know they are THERE!
I recently saw a post on the popular messageboard Two Peas in a Bucket lamenting the fact that yet another scrapbook store in their state (Wisconsin)Â had closed….. and yet, despite the fact that we’d been covering that state for MONTHS, none of our research had turned up that particular store! We work pretty hard on our research…. How can a store survive if no one knows they are there?
Let’s share info as best we can to let all paper crafters know where to find that cute, independent store around the corner from your house (lucky you!) …. or the store you always stop by on your way to your mom’s house …. or the store that’s kind of out of the way but so worth visiting 🙂
By the way, if we’re missing your favorite store, they would probably be glad for you to send us their address & URL so they can be included! [email protected]
