Prima Spring 2012 International Teaching Tour

As you know, we love to help paper crafters find out about cool events to attend. These days, that’s usually limited to events here in the continental US, though we do aspire to grow. Today I’m thrilled to share some info about an upcoming class tour from Prima that will have them visiting parts of Europe & Israel!

Check it out …

Some of the classes they’ll be teaching will include the fabulous new Almanac collection, which is one of my absolute faves from this most recent CHA.

You can learn more about the Prima tour here. From the sound of things, they would totally be willing to add a few stops to the tour if there was enough demand so if they aren’t coming to your store and you’re now too far away from another stop, get your store owner to contact them!

True Scrap 3 Coming Soon!

Are you ready? True Scrap 3 is coming! Mark your calendars: April 20-21, 2012….

For more info, visit the True Scrap III page here!

Did you get a chance to participate in any of the classes from True Scrap 1 (April 2011) or True Scrap 2 (Oct 2011)? While of course it’s super cool to participate while the event is LIVE, the classes from True Scrap II are available individually on a per class basis so you can “cherry pick” those that would be of most value to you! You can check those out here:

CHA Winter 2012: Share Your Photo Recaps – Linky Party!

Everyone sees CHA through a different lens. We attend the show as bloggers, designers, manufacturers, retailers, artists, buyers and friends of the aforementioned ;)

I shared my CHA photo recap yesterday here, but I’d love to see yours too! I’ll add some photo recaps from manufacturers as I run across them, but I invite you to share yours in a linky-party type format below!

Thanks for linking!! We request that you include a link to this post via your blog if at all possible. After all, we want to connect & share these photos with everyone in the paper crafting community!

CHA Winter 2012: A Photo Recap from the Pep Rally

Hi Team!

Your paper crafting cheerleader had a GREAT time at CHA (The Craft & Hobby Association semi-annual tradeshow)! The show isn’t over until tomorrow (Wednesday), but hey — you know how it goes… it’s hard to carve out budget & time to be away that long!  This was the first CHA that I haven’t worked full-time with a manufacturer in a while, so I can’t tell you how much fun it was to run around, meet up with old friends, laugh, giggle, stalk celebs, eat overpriced convention center food, and absorb the energy of the show.

The official CHA – Hangover is lurking and may attack at any moment. (I provided the official medical definition of a CHA hangover after the last show here.) Therefore, I’d better go ahead & share with you my photos & comments from the show while I can :) This is just a tiny portion of what there was to see and experience there. Friends, colleagues, bloggers, designers, manufacturers & frenemies are providing coverage all over the place! So I know you’ll find other samplings to fill-in the gaps. Here’s what I was able to capture for my home team … (slideshow below)

My partner-in-crime for the trip (ScrapItGirl) took loads of photos as well, and we hope to share a look through her camera lens later this week. Until then, go team PCC!

Tattered Angels Acquired by Canvas Corp

Tattered Angels announced yesterday their “new home” with Canvas Corp!

Tattered Angels (makers of the popular glimmer mists, etc) has long been a consumer favorite in the crafting industry. Despite their consumer success, the brand has had rumored operational and financial difficulties. As seen with other recent acquisitions in the industry, this new relationship will provide the Tattered Angels brand the operational and financial support needed to continue to provide their loyal, passionate fans the products they love.

Tattered Angels found Wendy Senger will “continue to lead the creative process for Tattered Angels, as well as, become a part of the Canvas Corp creative team. Also, the Tattered Angels design team will “continue their mission of brand education.”

Canvas Corp acquired Bagworks, a fabric cut and sew company, in the summer of 2011. They then made a big splash in December 2011 when they acquired the popular 7gypsies brand (announced here on PCC.) With this latest acquisition, they are on their way to becoming the mixed media fans creative dream! I can’t wait to see what’s next for the Canvas Corp family!

Charity Wings: CHA 2012 – Fun Opportunities to Get Involved!

Here’s a little tidbit of info for EVERYONE interested in CHA — for those attending and for those who aren’t :)

Have you heard of Charity Wings?

Charity Wings organizes craft-themed fundraisers and donates the proceeds to charity. Here are two of the special events that are planning for CHA later this month:

 LIVE from CHA

This event is great for those of you who are not attending the show, but wish you were! It’s a 2-day, online, streaming event LIVE from the show floor at CHA. Elena (Charity Wings founder) carries around her webcam and conducts interviews at the hot booths, participates in make & takes, etc. You get to watch from the comfort of home! In addition, with your $39 all access pass, you will receive a goodie bag at home containing materials to participate in the progressive make & take along with Elena at the show. How cool is that? To learn more about this event, click HERE.

She’s Crafty Flash Mob

Will you be at CHA? If so, you’ll want to sign up to participate in the Charity Wings Craft Flash Mob event scheduled for Sunday morning on the show floor.  Haven’t you always wanted to be part of a Flash Mob? How fun! All you have to do is make a $10 donation and learn a 90 second, quick & easy dance.  To learn more and for a preview of the dance, click HERE.

Don’t both of these special opportunities sound like great fun?

CHA 2012-W: Unity Stamp Co Not Exhibiting

Angela Magnuson, co-owner of Unity Stamp Company, announced yesterday via the Unity blog that they will not be exhibiting at the CHA Winter 2012 show in Anaheim next month. Unity is producing new stamps that will be revealed next month, but they will be promoting them from their Unity home, versus via a booth at CHA. She and her husband Chris will attend the show, but they will be there to enjoy it rather than to exhibit. She says they will “attend the show. meet all the people we LOVE. smile, laugh and enjoy.”

In explaining their decision, Angela says:

year one.  CHA BLEW MY MIND – SO EXCITING.
year two.  CHA was AMAZING and LOVELY and EGO BUILDING.
year three. was just year three.  the SOUL STIRRING was not there.
new plan.
if your soul is not stirred…
time for a change.

I can certainly understand their decision. Exhibiting at the show is expensive; Preparing the exhibit itself requires a huge commitment of resources. What do you think?

As always, we’ll keep you posted on the new Unity products as they are shared from the Unity blog and facebook page! You can keep an eye on our total CHA 2012 Winter coverage here.
