Celebrate National Scrapbook Day with Creative Memories – and giveaway!

A special message from our good friends at Creative Memories!

Every year, National Scrapbook Day (NSD) brings a chance to recognize the importance of working with your photos while celebrating the fun of connecting with others. And nobody does it like Creative Memories. In fact, National Scrapbook Day was started by Creative Memories Consultants in 1995. Back then, NSD was designated as the first weekend in May.

Today, NSD has grown so much that we’ll be celebrating it over the course of nine excellent days – April 27 – May 5, 2012. Here’s what you can look forward to:

Amazing 9-day sale

Visit creativememories.com or your Consultant’s web site between April 27 and May 5 to find great products at major discounts!

Crops and parties

Check with your Creative Memories Consultant and see what she’s got planned for the celebration. Don’t have a consultant? Look for all kinds of scrapbooking & paper crafting events near you by clicking “Local Info by State” or the graphic below.

If there aren’t any events already listed near you, find a Creative Memories Consultant and ask about gathering some friends and hosting a National Scrapbook Day party of your own. (You won’t believe the rewards in store!)

Daily sketch and project challenges

Every day of our nine-day celebration, by noon, we’ll post a sketch and project challenge on our blogs. Watch for links on Pinterest and on our Home Office  and Go Digital Facebook pages.

The sketches and challenges will be adaptable for both digital and paper croppers. Anyone who uploads an image of their daily challenge project to our Facebook page and completes the entry form by 11:59 p.m. (CT) will be entered into that day’s prize drawing.

Queen of NSD

Is there a Creative Memories Consultant you love? Someone who you think puts on the best NSD celebrations each year? Check the Creative Memories Facebook page on April 27 to  find a simple form to nominate her to become this year’s Queen of NSD. She could win a new Cricut Expression® 2 machine and a fun trophy!

Exclusive Creative Memories Products

We’ve put together some beautiful product selections specifically to help celebrate this year’s NSD called the “Best Of,” featuring a sampling of Creative Memories fan favorites. And the only ways to get them are to contact your Creative Memories Consultant …..

OR win them here {giveaway}!

Simply comment on this post, telling us what favorite Creative Memories product you’ll be using this National Scrapbook Day, and we’ll randomly select a winner. Giveaway closes on National Scrapbook Day, May 5, 2012 at midnight eastern.

This giveaway is open to ALL Papercrafter’s Corner readers. Good luck – and happy National Scrapbook Day!

Good News / Bad News & a Giveaway :)

Well folks, I have good news and I have bad news. (Yes, I am being melodramatic ….)

Good News: We’re part of the Creating Keepsakes blog hop to promote their newest special edition, “Simple Scrapbooks.” Yay!

Bad News: I had planned to do provide a thorough review of the publication as part of my post for the blog hop and provide my top 10 fave parts of the mag (like I did last time), but that didn’t happen!

Good News: The reason it didn’t happen is that the issue is so meaty and has so much good content in it, well, I’m only on page 39 of 130 so far and how can I possibly give a good review if I’m only 30% of the way through the mag?

Seriously, this isn’t a “skimmable” magazine as I had planned. You will want to take you time to dive-in to it and absorb all it has to offer! It is full of fabulous scrapbook ideas. Big Yay!

Good News: At least I get to share a cool 14-page preview of the mag and let you decide for yourself how awesome it is!

To purchase, visit the CK online store here, or visit your local scrapbook store.

Enter to Win

To enter to win this special edition of CK, simply leave a comment here telling me ONE WORD (or name?) that you think of when you think of Creating Keepsakes :) OUR giveaway for this issue closes on Saturday night at midnight eastern.

More Chances to Win: For more chances to win, visit all of the 15 stops on the CK blog hop. The next 3 stops on the hop are:

Have fun & good luck!

May/June CK: 10 Things I Loved Most {and giveaway!}

Don’t you love getting a new scrap mag in the mail? Or sneaking one into your grocery shop or Target run as a little “treat” for yourself? I received my May/June 2012 Creating Keepsakes on Friday. What a fun treat for my weekend!

My issue arrived in perfect condition but today, it sits here beside me dog-earned, warped and slightly wavy from being used as a coaster. That’s the sign of a good magazine, huh? When it’s been thoroughly ENJOYED!!

May/June CK 2012 – 10 Things I Loved Most!

  1. Trendy AND Practical Layouts: This issue contains the trendy, artsy style layouts as well as the more practical multi-photo double pagers …. a nice mix of scrapbook ideas and inspiration!
  2. Advertisements: Can I admit that enjoy the ads in CK? I always learn about a new kit club or product or scrapbooking event that I didn’t know about previously.  And I always enjoy seeing the bright colors and “eye candy” in ads from the major scrapbooking players!
  3. Creative Spaces: You know we love craft storage ideas — so I particularly enjoyed the “creative spaces” article by Megan Hoeppner. What fun to get an insider’s look at the 7Gypsies studio. I was also inspired by the the feature of Teri Lopez’s closet turned craft space!
  4. Storage Ideas: We are “Wild for Washi Tape” here at PaperCrafter’s Corner. The Washi Tape storage idea on page 66 of the mag is genius and adorable!
  5. Photo Tricks : Love me some photo tricks that don’t require any fiddling with your camera!
  6. Same Layout, 2 (or more) Ways: This is one of my all-time favorite ways to learn about scrapbooking. In the “Easy Tricks for Translation” article (p77-85), you get to see the exact same layout done in both single pagers as well as double-pagers. LOVE this!
  7. Ticket Please Border Punch: In the “latest & greatest” article, CK always shares some of their new fave products. Yes, that Jenni Bowlin / Fiskars Border Punch is now officially on my must-have list :)
  8. Michael’s Coupon: There’s a Michael’s Coupon for 20% off your entire regular priced purchase on page 15. Enough said :)
  9. Kitchen Inspired Scrapbooking: An entire article about using baker’s twine, doilies, cupcake liners, recipe cards and more. Fun!
  10. Tips, tricks, techniques, ideas, free printables, a giveaway opportunity and more. Whew!

The Art of Observation with Heidi Swapp — Giveaway!!

Giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to the randomly selected winner MichelleGB

By now you have probably seen and heard a bit about the upcoming online class from Heidi Swapp & Big Picture Classes. It’s called The Art of Observation and it’s going to be AWESOME. How do I know this? Well, I’ve had a chance to work with Heidi quite a bit lately and to get to know her personally …. I can tell you that she has unbelievable charisma, passion & energy …. Her positive dynamic is infectious, and she is SO, so committed to this class being AMAZING. So therefore, it will be! But enough about what I think!

Heidi has put together some thoughts and a few SNEAK PEEKS from the class, just for you:

“I am getting super excited for my newest online class to kick off on April 5th at BigPictureClasses.com! i am part of the ’4Experts’ series (they call me an expert)… it’s called “the Art of Observation“! the class runs 12 weeks and we will be completing a new project each week that will challenge you to look around, and observe in a different way–and inspiring you to ask questions and seek out your answers!

i am especially excited to be teaching using my new ‘memory file‘ concepts… you will be amazed at what these little files can do! (they have even wowed me!) and while each week, the project will be based in a Memory File, you can certainly translate your project to a page or even a mini-book.

That is the best part of Big Picture Classes… is that you are able to do the class at your own pace, and using stuff from YOUR stash to complete the projects! (or…ok… you could buy some new stuff!) Each week, you will receive a clue, then observation assignments and observation techniques… once you have had a couple days to think and observe, you will get the instructions, photos, video tutorials for completing the project!

We’ll have an in-class blog, message board, and a few chats and even a live web-show all included in that class time! it’s going to be an amazing journey, one that promises to change the way you look at your world… and see it in a whole new light… and maybe even the way you perceive the art of documenting, storing and sharing YOUR memories!  i hope you will join me!”

Heidi & Big Picture Classes are providing one lucky PaperCrafter’s Corner free registration at the class!  To enter to win, simply leave a comment answering at least one of the following questions:
