Is it just me? Or does it seem like we have WAY too many Halloween themed products coming out this summer? I know we all have our own different styles and that if you're not an event scrapper, you might find more creative uses for all of these papers. But for me, your basic chronological scrapper, I honestly don't use that much Halloween stuff!
For Halloween 2007 I scrapped only one 2-page layout. Since I couldn't find Halloween paper that didn't clash or compete for attention with my cute little Pirate (aargh!), I borrowed some super cute pirate stamps from a friend and stamped white Staz On images on black cardstock. Add in a cut from the Indie Art Cricut cartridge, and the layout was complete. Zero themed papers used.
For Halloween 2008, I scrapped two different 2-page layouts….. but again, I found that the Halloween pages distracted from my very handsome & fierce Buzz Lightyear. I combined a sheet of Halloweeen paper that used some green and combined it with colorful non Halloween paper and plain cardstock used for Cricut lettering. The resulting layouts highlighted my handsome Buzz Lightyear, but also made sense with all of the shots of neighborhood friends dressed as witches, princesses, Darth Vadar, etc. 1 themed Halloween sheet used.
I haven't yet scrapped 2009, but as it was pouring down rain and bitterly cold, I think we only got about 2 scrappable pix. This means, I will probably create just a single page layout. Gosh, I wonder what I'll find to best coordinate with a photo of "The Thing" getting a hug from me dressed as a Vampire, complete with makeup, wig & teeth 🙂
So if you add it all up,I guess I'm burning through those Halloween pages at a rapid clip of roughly 1 sheet per year. So I ask you: What's with ALL of the manufacturers coming out with Halloween stuff? As cute as some of it is, why do they think we need so much of it?
