While I was at CHA this week, our guest Cara Miller was kind enough to prepare a quick Copic coloring guide for you! This is a great follow-up to our original “Alcohol Markers Week” from earlier this year. Welcome, Cara!
Been thinking about Copic markers but have no idea where to start? ….or maybe you even purchased a few and still need inspiration? They can be overwhelming but my job is to take your hand and make it easy.
First you need to choose an image you want to color. (Today I have chosen a digital stamp from Tiddly Inks Stamps for my image and the sentiment from Pink by Design Stamps.)
When I am ready to make a card, after I choose the image, I pick my colors. I pick out the Copics before I color anything and then I start a colorin’.
Start with her skin: E00 and E11 with a touch of R20 for blush
Next her hair: Y00 Y11 Y15 & E11 for depth
And her shoes and beach bag: YG00 YG06 YG11
Oh the flowers! I started with pink flowers but really did not like the pink (RV02 and RV04 after I was done…it looked out of place so I went over then with B21 and I was much happier)
And finally her bathing suit and towel: BG01 BG10 and BG13
I added white dots to the center of the flowers with my white Signo pen.
Then after I completed the image, I select my papers. I love 6×6 paper pads for my cards, Echo Park’s Springtime 6×6 pad for this one. I have coordinating papers right there and I the size is perfect.
I cut out my bathing beauty and backed her in a solid (the backside of my double sided pattern paper from Echo Park 6×6 Springtime) and then used foam pop dots to adhere to the “waves” photo mat.
Use the same markers you colored your towel to edge your photo mat. (I trimmed along the waves to add some dimension to my card)
Need more information about Getting Started and Basic Copics? Cara also provides “Whisper for Copics.” A Whisper is a set of handy “cheat cards” that have the important details that you need to remember as you use your favorite tools.
Thank you, Cara, for sharing your adorable card and Copic coloring guide with us!
